InnoVent Technology LLC has won a major process technology licensing deal with Westwell Biorefineries Ltd for its proprietary Multi Purpose Ester (MPE) technology! Westwell is one of the largest producers of ethanol in India and the MPE process will produce high value bioester derivatives from alcohol, such as ethyl acetate, butyl acetate, butyl acrylate etc., expanding their offering of sustainable and renewable products. The multi-million dollar project scope includes engineering, technology licensing, procurement, site startup, and supervision. With MPE, the production facility can switch from one ester to another, based on market conditions and demand, making it a flexible and enormously cost effective technology.
MPE technology was developed after several years of rigorous pilot plant testing, process simulations, scale-up and using a proprietary catalyst mix for the process. This process is superior to existing technology and consumes less energy and water, while producing excellent yields. InnoVent’s technology licensing portfolio now includes process technology licensing for grain- and sugarcane-based ethanol, MPE technology for a range of bioesters, and ammonia recovery from wastewater.
This plant will be based in Northeast India and will mark the second such licensing deal for InnoVent India led by Gautam Pradhan and team.
